Cook County musician Kenna Rose joined Dave and Julie for a live in-studio performance.

Rich Lewis Band

Rich Lewis Band performs live on WTIP

The Rich Lewis Band hails from the Twin Cities and combines rock, blues, R&B, and soul into their eclectic sound.  Lewis and several of the other members have been playing together, and with other notable Minnesota musicians, for over 50 years.

The group joined Dave and Julie on the back porch during a weekend playing at the Gunflint Tavern.

Naturalist Kurt Mead shares thoughts on building rock cairns

During our Rock Steady membership drive, we thought we’d look into the topic of stacking rocks, or making cairns. Kurt Mead, interpretive naturalist at Tettegouche State Park, joined Brian to discuss the ongoing debate.

New foods coming to the state fair this year

After losing a year of the Minnesota State Fair to COVID, the fair is on track to open again this summer as usual. And of course, that means…new foods! Nikki Hines is the person that books the food vendors for the fair.  She joined Julie to give us a preview of what we can expect.

Sam is a retired outdoors writer for the Duluth News Tribune, though he still contributes a weekly general column. He joined Dave on The Roadhouse.

U of M expert talks vaccine hesitancy

As we emerge from the COVID pandemic, vaccination rates have slowed down. There are some people who are hesitant to get the vaccine.

Dr. Louis Mansky, an expert in human virology and director of the Institute for Molecular Virology at the University of Minnesota joined Brian to talk about vaccine myths, continued hesitancy, and vaccine development.

Russian tall ship Pilgrim sails to Grand Marais

Sergey Sinelnik and his twin brother Alexander have traveled and explored all over the world. From 2017 to 2020 they sailed over 12,000 miles and landed in Duluth, the sister city of Petrozavodsk where they had launched their 42-foot wooden boat.

They sailed to North House for this weekend’s wooden boat show this past weekend.  While in town, Sergey and his interpreter Sasha Zavyalova joined Dave on The Roadhouse.
