Superior Canines: The Dog Classroom
Will Moore-The Dog Classroom is a dog training school located in Thunder Bay, Ontario. Led by head trainer Anne-Marie Mayes, the Classroom offers a myriad of different courses for dogs and courses to strengthen their skills, be it in agility course training or everyday obedience. WTIP's Will Moore visited a class to learn more in this feature.
Superior Canines: Sharolyn Sievert and Search & Rescue Dogs
Will Moore-In April, Central Lakes Search and Rescue of central Minnesota performed a demo of search and rescue dogs for a search management class at Vermillion Community College in Ely, MN. Instructing that class was Sharolyn Sievert, a CLSAR volunteer and search and rescue dog trainer. In this piece, we learn from Sharolyn about what it takes for a dog to be a successful searcher, different types of disciplines, and hear from several handlers and their dogs out on a practice search.
Superior Canines: Sheriff Deputy Paul Spry and K9 Eddy
Will Moore-In 2018, Eddy became the first Deputy K9 at the Cook County Sheriff's Office in twenty years. Since his arrival, he and his handler Deputy Paul Spry have bonded immensely. WTIP's Will Moore learns about Eddy's origins, his skills, and the constant training it takes to be a K9 from Deputy Spry.
