Local Music Project
The Local Music Project is a monthly, locally-produced feature highlighting the music and talents of local and visiting musicians. Support for this feature comes from the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.
Take Jack live on Sidetracks
Will Moore-The nine-piece California based music collective Take Jack joins Will Moore on Sidetracks. The group is in Cook County performing as part of the "Crazy Cold Beautiful" song cycle commissioned for the John Beargrease sled dog race, composed by the group's own Robin Eschner.
The Yellow Bellied Sapsuckers and A Kin live in Studio A
-Two great bands from the Driftless area of Wisconsin join hosts Will Moore and Carl Solander for a special hour-long live session before a performance at the Gunflint Tavern. The old-time and classic country duo The Yellow Bellied Sapsuckers, along with the newly-formed Americana trio A Kin bring terrific music and fun conversation to Studio A.
Local Music Project: Fred Anderson
Will Moore-Fred Anderson is a guitarist who has been perfecting his craft for over 50 years. He's excited to retire to Cook County later this year and join the North Shore's renowned music scene.
Local Music Project: Gordon Thorne and the Fingerstyle Masters Weekend
Will Moore-Gordon Thorne is a fingerstyle blues guitarist living in Finland, MN. In this edition of the Local Music Project, Will Moore learns about his musical background (or admitted lack thereof), coming up to Cook County, and how he dealt with being a career musician. We also hear from Mike Dowling and Randy Sabien, the guests at Gordon's 5th Annual Fingerstyle Masters Weekend at Bluefin Grille in 2015.

Cook County resident Boyd “Bump” Blomberg has a new CD coming out this summer under his band name Pushing Chain. In this edition of the Local Music Project, we learn about Bump’s evolution as a songwriter and player going to back to his days in the late 80’s as a member of the Gooneybirds to his most recent work with fiddler and singer, Adam Moe.

This edition of the Local Music Project features long time Minnesota music makers Rich Mattson and Germaine Gemberling. Rich and Germaine reside in Sparta, Minnesota where Rich runs his recording studio Sparta Sound. The duo performs together throughout the region regularly including frequent visits to Cook County.
