The Roadhouse is a volunteer-produced music show with a special focus on the weekend, featuring local event and music announcements and a fun music mix. Hosted by a rotating cast of volunteers including Tracy Benson, Julie Carlson, Brian Neil and Dave TerSteeg.

Blueberries are a big part of wolves' summertime diets

Most of us love wild blueberries, and recently researchers learned that apparently wolves do too. Thomas Gable is the project lead for the Voyageurs Wolf Project and a Ph.D. student at the University of Minnesota.  He joined Dave on The Roadhouse to tell us more about the latest research.

Jared Munch talks stand-up paddleboard trip to the Arctic

This summer, Jared Munch went on the adventure of a lifetime, stand-up paddleboarding from Duluth to the Arctic Ocean. 

His trip took him through Grand Marais and he took a short break to stop by the WTIP studios in June.  Listen to that interview here.

A new film about Labor Secretary Frances Perkins, the first woman cabinet member, will be shown Wednesday, Feb. 12 at 5:20 at the Grand Marais Public Library.

Annual Winter Plein Air retreat is underway

We’re all familiar with and might participate in traditional winter sports…snowshoeing, skiing, snowmobiling. But painting outside in the winter? Turns out it’s a big, fun deal. Painters Neil Sherman and Michelle Wegler joined Dave on The Roadhouse before the start to fill us on the event.

Sky Blue Trio performs on Roadhouse

Sky Blue Trio is Mike DeBevec, piano and vocals; Karina Roth, vocals; Mike Roth, string bass; Erik Hahn, saxophone and flute, Eric Anderson, trombone and euphonium; and Thomas Stamps, percussion and vocals.

Mike DeBevec, Karina and Mike Roth, and Erik Hahn joined Brian and Dave on The Roadhouse to play a handful of jazz tunes and also talk about what the group is up to.

We all know about rain, but a few weeks ago on the East Coast, it was raining…loons!

Raptor Center at the University of Minnesota is investigating how raptors hear

As wind energy becomes more prevalent, it is important to make sure wind turbines are as safe as possible for birds. A study at The Raptor Center at the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine is investigating how raptors hear, in an effort to prevent collisions with wind turbines. Dr. Julia Ponder joined Dave on The Roadhouse to tell us more about the new research.

Intermittent fasting, where you limit your food intake to a certain period of time per day, seems to be the latest health craze and is credited with all kinds of benefits.
