Local musicians Eric Frost & Bill Hansen visited Studio A Feb. 6 to play both covers and originals (Eric on guitar, Bill on dobro) and chat with Buck and Dick. Conversation ran the gamut from the recent TV taping at Papa Charlie's to falling through lake ice.

Local bluesman Gordon Thorne stopped by Studio A Jan. 9 to talk about the guitar workshops he's offering at Moondance Coffeehouse in Lutsen, Tuesdays through March from 5 to 7 p.m. All are invited to learn to play or just enjoy the music. And mark your calendar for this year's fingerstyle masters weekend, April 11 and 12. Of course Gordon played a few tunes, too.

Dick Swanson & Bob Carter welcomed all six members of the Black River Revue, a Duluth/Superior-based band, into Studio A Dec. 5. Ann Possis & Will Moore were delighted to welcome the Emory Lester Set (Emory Lester, mandolin; Al Smith, guitar; and Kene Hyatt, bass) to The Roadhouse Oct. 31. They were in town for the 24th annual Bluegrass Masters Weekend at Lutsen Resort. Lester is considered one of the most accomplished mandolin players in the country. Ann Possis & Will Moore welcomed new local band Angel Hair Rasta to Studio A. They played a Halloween reggae concert at the American Legion in Grand Marais on Halloween night to raise money for the Grand Marais Music Collaborative, a nonprofit organization created to support music in Grand Marais.
