There's a new band in town, the Plucked Up String Band, and they stopped by Studio A to chat and share their great original music. The band is Elliott Noyce on mandolin, Will Moore on upright bass, Matt Nesheim on banjo, and Bill Hansen on dobro. You can hear more from the band at Radio Waves, Saturday, Sept. 12, and at Unplugged at North House, Sept. 17.

Local singer/songwriter Joe Paulik's work is heavily influenced by nature and conveys his sense of connectedness to the Earth. He joined Dick and Dave Aug. 21 to talk about his music and play several tunes. You can learn more about Joe and his music here.

Buck Benson and Dave TerSteeg welcomed local musician Timmy Haus to The Roadhouse Aug. 14 for fun chat and great sound. 

Grammy award-winner Jerry Vandiver stops by Studio A every summer when he's in town for his annual BWCAW canoe trip. Dick & Ann welcomed him Aug. 7 for lots of fun talk and great tunes. You can learn more about Jerry and his music here.

Yvonne Caruthers  joined Jerry Lilja with Tuesday Classics to perform and talk about some of her favorite recordings and cello performances. Before moving to Grand Marais, Yvonne Caruthers spent 35 years as a cellist with the National Symphony Orchestra. She has also performed in several theater productions and is a noted lecturer.

Local musicians Eric Frost (guitar) and Bill Hansen (dobro) stopped by The Roadhouse July 31 for laughter, chat, and great tunes. 

Musician Ben Weaver is riding his bicycle around Lake Superior to engage people along the route in conversation about the state of our fresh water. He's performing his music at many stops along the way. He spoke with Dick, and played a few tunes, during a July 24 stopover in Grand Marais. As Ben says in this interview, "Why do we have to choose between jobs and fresh water?" You can learn more about Ben and his project here.

Twin Cities band The Wrong Omar (from left, Becky Shaheen, Laura Lou, and Joey Shaheen) dropped by the station during membership drive to chat, laugh, and play some great original music. 

Local fav Michael Monroe stopped by Studio A July 3 to play a few songs from his most recent album, "Folk Legends," and to talk about his music and log cabin concerts. You can learn more here.

Local bluesman Gordon Thorne stopped by The Roadhouse July 3 for a few tunes... as well as conversation about everything from obscure blues singers to waterskiing.
