Plucked Up String Band makes Roadhouse debut

There's a new band in town, the Plucked Up String Band, and they stopped by Studio A to chat and share their great original music. The band is Elliott Noyce on mandolin, Will Moore on upright bass, Matt Nesheim on banjo, and Bill Hansen on dobro. You can hear more from the band at Radio Waves, Saturday, Sept. 12, and at Unplugged at North House, Sept. 17.

Joe Paulik brings original music to The Roadhouse

Local singer/songwriter Joe Paulik's work is heavily influenced by nature and conveys his sense of connectedness to the Earth. He joined Dick and Dave Aug. 21 to talk about his music and play several tunes. You can learn more about Joe and his music here.

Nashville singer-songwriter Jerry Vandiver makes annual stop at The Roadhouse

Grammy award-winner Jerry Vandiver stops by Studio A every summer when he's in town for his annual BWCAW canoe trip. Dick & Ann welcomed him Aug. 7 for lots of fun talk and great tunes. You can learn more about Jerry and his music here.

Cellist Yvonne Caruthers performs live in Studio A

Yvonne Caruthers  joined Jerry Lilja with Tuesday Classics to perform and talk about some of her favorite recordings and cello performances. Before moving to Grand Marais, Yvonne Caruthers spent 35 years as a cellist with the National Symphony Orchestra. She has also performed in several theater productions and is a noted lecturer.

Musician Ben Weaver circumnavigating Lake Superior by bicycle...and song

Musician Ben Weaver is riding his bicycle around Lake Superior to engage people along the route in conversation about the state of our fresh water. He's performing his music at many stops along the way. He spoke with Dick, and played a few tunes, during a July 24 stopover in Grand Marais. As Ben says in this interview, "Why do we have to choose between jobs and fresh water?" You can learn more about Ben and his project here.
