Tim Young is a local artist known for a wide body of work, including Flash Meridian, an ongoing online sci-fi story that just hit its 100th episode. Will Moore chatted with Tim recently about this as well as his newest creative project, the Adventures of Mr. Pumpkinhead.

How to create the best kind of cabin? Architect & 'cabinologist' Dale Mulfinger weighs in

Dale Mulfinger is a Minneapolis-based architect, author and 'cabinologist'. He's written several books on the subject, including his latest, "The Family Cabin: Inspiration for Camps, Cottages and Cabins," which was voted Best Interior Design Book of 2017 by Library Journal. He joined Dave to chat about cabins and what to consider in making your own cabin special.

Adventurer Stevie Anna Plummer travels solo 1,000+ miles across Patagonia on horseback

With slow travel nearly forgotten, some explorers are rediscovering its charm. Adventurer and writer Stevie Anna Plummer, a former Cook County resident, recently completed a 1,000+ mile journey across Patagonia by horseback, with only her dog Darcie for company. Stevie talked with Dave about the challenges and joys of the trip. You can read her blog and see her gorgeous photography here

Artist/jeweler Danny Saathoff's exhibit focuses on climate change; opens Feb. 20 at Grand Marais Art Colony

Danny Saathoff is a Twin Cities jeweler and artist who recently received a grant from the MN State Arts Board for his work, "Swinging the Compass," which focuses on the effects of climate change on Lake Superior. He chatted with Jay about his art, how jewelry and sculpture are related, and the exhibit, which opens Tues.,  Feb. 20, with a talk by Danny at 5:30 p.m. at the Grand Marais Art Colony.

Native author Thomas King on his latest work, "The Inconvenient Indian"

"The Inconvenient Indian" from the U of MN Press is an unconventional, subversive account of Indian-White relations in North America since initial contact. The book's award-winning author, Thomas King, spoke with Jay about his ideas and his hope for charting a new way forward for Indians as well as non-Indians.

Walk like a penguin: Staying safe in a Minnesota winter

We all know someone who's fallen and injured themselves on the ice...maybe it's happened to you, too. Older people are especially vulnerable. Jessica Finlay of the Center on Aging at the U of MN has been studying this problem, and chatted with Dave about how older people feel about and deal with winter.
