Musicians Keith Secola & Briand Morrison stop by Studio A for "Dawn and Sea" benefit

Bob visited Oct. 5 with musicians Keith Secola and Briand Morrison about an event to help restore George Morrison's painting, "Dawn and Sea," the artist's gift many years ago to the Cook County Schools. The painting is going on tour with the Minnesota Museum of American Art to museums across the country. Keith, who was inducted into the Native Music Hall of Fame in 2011, played a few songs and talked about his new album, "Life is Grand."

Buck Benson & Dave Seaton welcomed local musician Barbara Jean to Studio A Sept. 28, fresh from her Mountain Stage performance and release of her new album, "The Great Escape." She was joined by David Huckfelt, guitarist for The Pines.

Musicians Thea Ennen & Dave Peterson make WTIP debut

Buck and Bob welcomed River Falls musicians Thea Ennen and Dave Peterson to The Roadhouse Aug. 17. Thea was a finalist in the Big Top Chatauqua National Songwriter's Contest, and received a MN Music award for Best Folk Album. Dave is an accomplished bluegrass and jazz guitarist, winner of several first place awards in MN State flatpicking contests, and has appeared on A Prairie Home Companion.

Buck and Bob welcomed James Moors and Kort McCumber, with local musician Bump Blomberg, to The Roadhouse Aug. 10, before their performance that evening at Betsy Bowen's What's Upstairs in Grand Marais.

Matthew and Sam Miltich were in town Aug. 3 to play at Harbor Park during Fisherman's Picnic. They stopped by The Roadhouse to talk about the challenges and joys of being a rural musician and, of course, Sam played a few songs.

The Joe Paulik Band stopped by The Roadhouse July 27 to chat and play a few songs. Joe Paulik is on guitar and vocals, Jessi Nicholson sings, and John Mianowski plays bass guitar. Drummer Rick Brandenburg and fiddler Max Bichel joined them later that evening at the Raven's Nest above the Gun Flint Tavern in Grand Marais.
