WTIP regularly hosts live in-studio music. We feature local musicians, groups and bands as well as musicians and bands visiting the area.


What's On:
Saints of Circumstance in Studio A in Oct. 2018

South Shore-based Saints of Circumstance perform on Roadhouse

South Shore band The Saints of Circumstance stopped by The Roadhouse before a recent gig on the North Shore.  The group is normally a quartet, but performed without their drummer Jeff Kriner, as a trio of David Blong (guitar), Olaf Kirsten (guitar), and Scott McCafferty (bass).

Michael and Jennifer McLain & the Banjocats join Roadhouse

Michael & Jennifer McLain & the Banjocats were a part of the North Shore Music Association's Bluegrass Masters Weekend this past weekend.  They took some time from jamming in Lutsen to stop by the WTIP studios.  The group chatted with Dave and Julie about their travels around the country playing music, and of course, played a few songs for us as well.

Rootz Within perform on Roadhouse

Rootz Within is an "Island jam reggae fusion" band from Detroit Lakes.  While in Grand Marais for a couple of nights playing at the Gunflint Tavern the group joined Brian and Dave on The Roadhouse.   You can learn more about Rootz Within on their Facebook page.

Easy Riders remember Robert Hunter on The Roadhouse

Easy Riders are a group from Peoria, Illinois playing rock and blues.  They were in Grand Marais for a few gigs over the weekend, including stopping by the WTIP studios to join Dave and Brian on The Roadhouse.  Easy Riders performed a few songs, including a one a tribute to the late Robert Hunter.

Jim McGowan joins The Roadhouse

Roadhouse favorite Jim McGowan stopped by the studios to join Julie and Dave and chat about what he's been up to, and of course play a few tunes for us.

Space Monkey Mafia AND Dash rock The Roadhouse

A Roadhouse record seven musicians join Brian and Dave in the studio.  Both Space Monkey Mafia and Bozeman, Montana based duo Dash rocked out in the studio together.

Space Monkey Mafia is Joe Barron, Riley Jacobson, Blake Foster, Tim Kingstrom, and Dante Leyva.  You can learn more about them on their Facebook page.

Rootz Within jams on The Roadhouse

Nashville singer-songwriter-fiddler-actress Caitlin Nicol-Thomas joined Dave and Julie on The Roadhouse to perform some of her music in the studio, as well as chat about her recent her wedding, what's she up to next, and much more.

The Federales bring country music to The Roadhouse

The Federales are a country-rock band from Minneapolis.  While in Grand Marais for a weekend full of shows at the Gunflint Tavern, the group joined Annie and Julie to make their Roadhouse debut. 

The Federales are:

James Gould- electric guitar
Mark Larson – drums
Chris Holm- bass
Jay Scabich – fiddle

The Dang Ol’ Tri’ole is a 5 person bohemian folk group from the Twin Cities.  They joined Dave and Brian on The Roadhouse to perform some of their original songs for us.

The Dang Ol' Tri'ole is Rob Higgins: Bass/Vocals, Richard Yaegar: Trumpet/Vocals, Michael Higgins: Guitar/Vocals, Wesley Full: Cajon/Congas, and Dan Yaeger: Aux Percussion.
