Did you know there are actually science-based ways to maximize your fun?  With our current deep freeze, we thought it would be a good time to check it out.  Roadhouse host Brian spoke with Dr. Selin Malkoc, associate professor of marketing at The Ohio State University about her recent research on this topic.

Joe Paris of PHO calls in to The Roadhouse

Joe Paris s the guitarist for the funk band PHO.  He called into The Roadhouse just ahead of the group's performance at the recent Lake Effect Music and Ski Festival.  Joe chats with Dave about the history of the group, being noticed by Prince in 2016, and more.

Thunder Bay Literacy Group hosting 21st annual Scrabble tournament

The Thunder Bay Literacy Group has been working for 26 years to improve literacy in the community.  Their big annual event, a Scrabble tournament, is coming up Feb. 9.  Dan Russell Matthews, executive director of the group, joined Ann on The Roadhouse to fill us in on the details.

Eric Frost and friends stopped by The Roadhouse before a recent gig at Wunderbar. Joining Eric was Travis Wickwire on bass, Jim Elverhoy on harmonica and Bill Hansen on dobro. They played a mix of original and cover tunes and chatted with host Dave about what they've all been up to recently.

The public health impact of climate change

Climate change is having a big public health impact, and public health departments are on the front lines.  Freelance science journalist Dave Levitan joined The Roadhouse to talk with host Dave Tersteeg about how climate change is affecting public health.

Astronomer Bob King explains recent lunar eclipse

Bob King, the author of the Astro Bob blog, joined The Roadhouse just before what he called one of the biggest astronomical events of the year, the recent lunar eclipse on Sunday, Jan. 20.   Bob spoke with Brian about the eclipse, as well as his recent retirement from the Duluth News-Tribune.

We all know someone who’s vowed to quit smoking in the new year. Quitting is great for your health, yet one side effect can be weight gain.  How can quitters avoid the weight gain? Hyperloop transportation may be coming soon - what is it and how does it work?

You may have heard of hyperloop technology—a super fast type of transportation that will move people through vacuum tubes at speeds up to 750 miles per hour.

Dram Shop stopped by The Roadhouse to perform some country music for us.  The Dram Shop Duo consists of Tony Haedt (lead vocals, rhythm guitar, and harmonica) and Cindy Sue (lead vocals and tambourine).
