Gypsy moth fight returns to North Shore
-Be prepared, airplanes will once again fly the skies over the North Shore in pursuit of gypsy moths. In fact, this spring will be the biggest aerial combat ever.
Township elections are Tuesday, March 8
-Township elections and annual meetings will be held Tuesday, March 8 in Lutsen, Schroeder and Tofte. Polls are open between 5 an 8 p.m., with the annual meetings to follow.

-Inuit sculptor David Ruben has gained worldwide recognition for his carvings for over 30 years. In 1988, he was named to the Sculptors Society of Canada.

-Area artists are gearing up for this summer’s Hovland Arts Festival. This year in addition to featuring Grand Portage and Hovland artists, the Festival has opened up to all county artists.

-On Tuesday, March 1 the Cook County Republican party met for its Basic Political Operating Unit convention.
Park Board discusses improvements before summer season
-The Grand Marais Rec Park board met to discuss several items they want to deal with before the summer season starts Memorial Day.
