State shutdown will affect some local services
-If the governor and legislature cannot solve their budget differences by the end of the month, July will start off with far fewer state-funded services. Cook County will feel some of the pinch.
Minnesota sent three fire crews to New Mexico
-Minnesota sent three fire crews to New Mexico to help battle wildfires this week. The crews have 20 members each. Minnesota also sent 14 crew-carrier trucks.
"A Family Affair," the Hedstrom family art exhibit, opens at Johnson Heritage Post
-Bob Carter of The Roadhouse spoke with Maeri Hedstrom by phone June 10 from the opening reception of "A Family Affair," an art exhibit featuring Maeri's work as well as that of her parents, Howard and Bonnie Gay Hedstrom. Art in a wide variety of media, from film to oils to turned wood and more, are on display at the Johnson Heritage Post in Grand Marais through June 26.
Recovery efforts intensify for Ty Sitter
-A team of eight will go into the BWCAW on Thursday to set up a temporary camp in an attempt to recover the body of Ty Sitter from Swan Lake. Sitter was reported missing on June 10 while fishing.
Cook County Visitors Bureau to pick up harbor program
-The Outdoor Classroom is an informational program developed by Harbor Friends. The organization is now dormant and they wanted the Grand Marais Rec Park to pick up the program.
Sheriff confident searchers have found body of missing person
-Several teams of search crews have been focused on Swan Lake in the BWCAW looking for 23 year old Ty Sitter of Janesville, WI.

-On the afternoon of May 26, the Cook County Sheriff’s office executed a search warrant on the Caribou Trail in Lutsen on a tip marijuana was being grown at a residence.
