Buck Benson and Dave TerSteeg welcomed local musician Timmy Haus to The Roadhouse Aug. 14 for fun chat and great sound. 

Physicists just released the first data from the neutrino experiment based at the NOvA lab near International Falls. Prof. Dan Cronin-Hennessy of the U of MN joined Dave TerSteeg Aug. 14 to explain the study and why neutrinos are so important. Dr Amy Krentzman of the U of MN School of Social Work and the Center for Spirituality and Healing has been studying the practice of gratitude in addiction treatment and recovery. She talked with Buck Aug. 14 about what she's found in her research on how a gratitude practice supports the process of recovery...which can be as simple as finding three things to be thankful for each day.

Grammy award-winner Jerry Vandiver stops by Studio A every summer when he's in town for his annual BWCAW canoe trip. Dick & Ann welcomed him Aug. 7 for lots of fun talk and great tunes. You can learn more about Jerry and his music here.

Rendezvous Days was Aug. 7 to 9 at Grand Portage National Monument. Two of the historical re-enactors, Ray and Kelly James,  joined Dick Aug. 7 to explain how the encampment and re-enactment work. And fiddler Carrie  Dlutkowski played some amazing tunes of the period. 

On Aug. 28, North House Folk School will host a screening of the adventure travel documentary "Kharma Bums" with filmmaker Ryan Salm. Ryan, Jeremiah Kent, and Martin Cavada joined Ann Possis Aug. 7 to talk about what it was like to travel and work in a place where 100 million people gathered. You can learn more here. 

Local musicians Eric Frost (guitar) and Bill Hansen (dobro) stopped by The Roadhouse July 31 for laughter, chat, and great tunes. 

The U of MN just broke ground on its new Bee and Pollinator Research Lab, a facility to house bee research, led by world-renowned bee expert Marla Spivak. Buck chatted with Dr. Rebecca Masterman, associate program director of the Bee Squad, about why bees are so important to agriculture and to the health and beauty of our world. Stephen Brede of Petoskey, Mich. has a life goal to canoe around all five Great Lakes. Dick caught up with him July 30, when he was windbound on an island near Rossport, Ontario, and talked with him about the why and how of his adventure. Vladimir Yarish, an award-winning basket maker from Russia, has worked with birch bark for more than 24 years. He teaches all over the U.S., including at North House Folk School here in Grand Marais. He joined Dick in studio July 24 to talk about his craft and tell a few stories about Russia, traveling, and teaching.
