Ann Possis spoke Apr. 20 with Shannon Lotthammer, manager of the water assessment and environment section of the MPCA, about a new study to determine the effects of sulfates on wild rice. Shannon explains what sulfates are, where they come from, and what the study will look for.

Carah Thomas and Dave Seaton welcomed Portland fingerstyle guitarist Mary Flower to Studio A Apr. 13. She was here for the second annual Fingerstyle Guitar Masters Weekend at Bluefin Bay in Tofte, and was joined in studio with musician and organizer of the event, Gordon Thorne. 

Dave Seaton spoke Apr. 13 with Lois Sinn Lindquist, executive director of Minnesota Waters, about invasive species in Minnesota, and steps we can all take to slow or stop their spread. There will be a training session for lake service providers in Grand Marais Sat., May 5, at the Cook County Community Center from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. 

Dave Seaton & Buck Benson hosted alt-grass band Saint Anyway on Apr. 6. Jamie Kallestad, Tony Petersen, and Dane Levinski make up the band, which originated in Carlton County in northern Minnesota.

Buck spoke Apr. 6 with Dr. Beatrice Golomb, physician-scientist at the University of California-San Diego, about her recently published study showing that chocolate consumption is associated with lower weight. Who knew?

Buck and Bob hosted local musicians Jim and Michele Miller Mar. 30, who talked about how they collaborate, and shared some great music.

Bob spoke Mar. 30 with Gary Dorrien, professor of social ethics at Union Theological Seminary, and author of "The Obama Question: A Progressive Perspective." Has Obama been a major disappointment, or has he made significant strides for the country?

Buck spoke Mar. 30 with Scott Janssen, an Anchorage dog musher and mortician, about this year's Iditarod and about his remarkable resuscitation of his lead dog, Marshall. 

Bob spoke Mar. 23 with Debra Fitzpatrick, director of the Center on Women and Public Policy at the Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs, U of MN, about their recent report on the status of women and girls in Minnesota. Buck spoke Mar. 23 with Dr. Mark Seeley, professor at the U of MN and regular commentator on MPR, about Minnesota's unusual weather of late, climate change in Minnesota, and what it might mean for us.
