Buck spoke Oct. 5 with Ben Penner, farm director at Open Arms MN, about the organic farm they started three years ago to supply their kitchens with fresh, nutritious food. Open Arms is a nonprofit that serves people with serious illness like multiple sclerosis, cancer, AIDS, and others, by delivering healthy meals right to their homes.

Buck Benson & Dave Seaton welcomed local musician Barbara Jean to Studio A Sept. 28, fresh from her Mountain Stage performance and release of her new album, "The Great Escape." She was joined by David Huckfelt, guitarist for The Pines.

Dave Seaton chatted Sept. 28 with Bob King, Duluth News-Tribune photographer, astronomer, and author of the Astro Bob blog. They covered everything from northern lights (fall's the best time to see them) to Mars Curiosity to getting enough sleep while working days and stargazing at night.

Buck chatted Sept. 28 with Dr. Sam Wasser, director of the Center for Conservation Biology at the U of Washington, about an amazing group of dogs that assist in wildlife research by sniffing out scat for study.

Local singer-songwriter Eric Frost dropped by Studio A Sept. 21. He chatted with Buck and Bob and played several original tunes, accompanied by local musician Bill Hansen.

Jody Allen Crowe, longtime educator and founder of Healthy Brains for Children, joined Buck Sept. 21 to talk about the prevalence of fetal alcohol syndrome and the devastation caused by prenatal exposure to alcohol.  Learn about his experiences, and his efforts to educate people and encourage women to find out if they're pregnant before they take a drink.

Bob chatted Sept. 21 with Laura Erickson, producer of "For the Birds," and Betsy Bowen, woodcut printmaker and painter, about their newest collaboration, "Hawk Ridge: Minnesota's Birds of Prey." The book includes every hawk that's ever been reported at Hawk Ridge in Duluth.

Bob spoke recently with Dr. Timothy Lineberry, Mayo Clinic psychiatrist & suicide expert for the Army, about the alarming increase in the military suicide rate, and what can be done to stop this trend. You can read his full article in the September edition of Mayo Clinic Proceedings, here.

Brad Herried, cartographer & web developer at the U of MN Polar Geospatial Center, chatted with Buck Sept. 7 about the new joint project with Google that allows people to see special places in the Antarctic and Arctic without ever leaving home.
