Mindfulness therapy as a way to help veterans with PTSD

 

Bob spoke May 10 with Dr. Anthony King, research assistant professor of psychiatry at the U of Michigan, about his recent study showing that mindfulness therapy might help vets with combat-related PTSD. Local nurse Teresa Borak shares her latest medical mission to Guatemala

Bob chatted Apr. 12 with Teresa Borak of the Sawtooth Mountain Clinic in Grand Marais about her recent trip to Guatemala with the organization Partner for Surgery, which provides medical care to impoverished Guatemalans in remote locations. Teresa has been volunteering with Partner for Surgery for 10 years.

Dr. Bodnar's experience as a young doctor with Chernobyl victims led her to create the EB, which won the 2009 IgNobel Award in Public Health. Open Arms Minnesota's volunteer-powered organic farm supports its meal services for those with serious illness

Buck spoke Oct. 5 with Ben Penner, farm director at Open Arms MN, about the organic farm they started three years ago to supply their kitchens with fresh, nutritious food. Open Arms is a nonprofit that serves people with serious illness like multiple sclerosis, cancer, AIDS, and others, by delivering healthy meals right to their homes.
