Woodland Chamber Music Workshop celebrates eighth year on the North Shore
-The eighth annual Woodland Chamber Music Workshop took place the last week in June at Surfside Resort in Tofte, with a record number of people registered for workshops. The event's creator, conductor and cellist Josh Aerie, talked with Dick about chamber music, their philosophy of teaching all levels, and the several concerts open to the public that weekend. Great (and unusual) new foods at the MN State Fair this year!
-The MN State Fair just announced new foods for this summer's fair, including Snicker Bar salad, deep-fried ribs, and walleye-stuffed mushrooms. Jazz trumpeter Willie Waldman rocks The Roadhouse
-Willie Waldman brought a few friends, Clint Wagner on guitar and Tofte-ite Bill Hansen on dobro, to our Wooden Boat Show broadcast to play great jazz and spin a few yarns. Former North House intern Angela Robins studies traditional Japanese boatbuilding
-Angela Robins, former intern at North House, was back in town to speak at the Wooden Boat Show about Japanese boatbuilding, which she observed and studied along with researcher/boatbuilder Douglas Brooks. She spoke with Dick June 19 at the live remote broadcast of The Roadhouse from the North House campus. Angela currently works with Urban Boatbuilders in St. Paul, and you can learn more about her here.
