The Beginnings of the "Artworks" Artists' Co-op
Will Moore-Artworks is a forthcoming artists' co-operative in Cook County that is the brainchild of Grand Marais mayor Jay Arrowsmith-Decoux and local artist J. Neisen.
Floydian Slip rocks the Roadhouse with original jam music
-South Shore jam band Floydian Slip made a return appearance on the show May 13 with great original tunes. They've been working on a new album, set to come out this summer, and they'll be back in town for Fisherman's Picnic. Floydian Slip is Andy Noyes, Jeff Kriner, Olaf Kirsten, and Scott McCafferty. Cook County resident Ann Marie Mershon's new memoir on teaching and traveling in Turkey
-Cook County teacher and writer Ann Marie Mershon spent nine semesters teaching in Turkey. She's written a memoir of her time there, "You Must Only to Love Them: Lessons Learned in Turkey." She chatted with Dick recently about what it was like to live and teach there, what she learned about Turkish culture, and much more. The book is available locally and on Amazon. New exhibit at Duluth's Karpeles Museum features Dylan memorabilia
-Local historian Bill Pagel, who runs the Dylan website www.boblinks.com, has an enormous collection of Dylan memorabilia. He's chosen some of the best pieces for an exhibit titled "Einstein Disguised as Robin Hood," open through May 31 at the Karpeles Manuscript Library Museum in Duluth. Dick spoke with John Bushey, co-curator of the exhibit, about the treasures within, and about the sixth annual Duluth Dylan Fest May 22 through May 29.
