The new coronavirus continues to spread in northeastern Minnesota. As of August 17, the Lake County COVID-19 case count stood at 25. In Cook County the total number of confirmed cases was six.

The Grand Portage Band of Lake Superior Chippewa is holding its general election Tuesday, August 18 with the polls open at the Old Log Community School from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Earlier this month, WTIP Community Radio learned that the Grand Marais Pharmacy, the county's only pharmacy at this time, would be closing at the end of August.

Contact tracing of COVID-19 proving effective in Cook County
