The new coronavirus continues to spread in northeastern Minnesota. As of August 17, the Lake County COVID-19 case count stood at 25. In Cook County the total number of confirmed cases was six. St. Louis County, meanwhile, had more than 675 confirmed cases since the start of the pandemic.

As reported by Lake County officials, the count has slowly but steadily climbed over the summer. Lake County is home to Two Harbors, Finland and Silver Bay, among other nearby communities.

WTIP’s Joe Friedrichs spoke with Lake County Administrator Matt Huddleston about the situation with COVID-19 and other news from the summer, including how operations are going at the new Black Beach Campground near Silver Bay.
