Threatened caribou transferred between Lake Superior islands via helicopter
-As of Jan. 15, a total of nine caribou were transferred to the Slate Islands near the Canadian town of Terrace Bay. The caribou came from another island on Lake Superior known as Michipicoten Island.

Gunflint fire department aims to purchase new ambulance
-The Cook County Board of Commissioners agreed on Tuesday, Jan. 9 to approve a request that the county serve as the fiscal agent for a new ambulance to be used up the Gunflint Trail.
