Northern Music Hour: Local Cook County trio, The Grace Notes, explores Scandinavian folk music
-The Northern Music Hour is a one-hour program exploring the musical heritage of the North Shore's Scandinavian settlers. As part of the February 2020 program, producer Martha Marnocha talked with The Grace Notes - a local Cook County trio that specializes in European folk and American old-time music. The trio talked about the history of the group, and shared experiences in performing their music. They also play several Scandinavian music selections.
The Grace Notes are Karen Obinger on flute, Sherrie Lindskog on melodica, and Martha Marnocha on piano.

Northern Music Hour: Craftsman Steve Dahl and the langeleik
-The Northern Music Hour is a one-hour program exploring the musical heritage of the North Shore's Scandinavian settlers. As part of the December 2019 program, producer Martha Marnocha talked with craftsman - and Lake Superior fisherman - Steve Dahl about his exploration and replication of a little-known Norwegian folk instrument called a langeleik.
