Adam Moe plays new ukulele songs on Scenic Route

Adam Moe is a fiddler from Duluth best known to Northlanders as half of the folk duo Pushing Chain. Lately he's been performing numerous virtual concerts on Facebook and through Patreon, and challenging himself to write a new song every single day on a different instrument - ukulele. He joins Will Moore on the Scenic Route to talk about being a musician in a time of quarantine and adapting to the new virtual music environment.

Paul Metsa has been making music for 50 years, be it growing up in his hometown of Virginia on Minnesota's Iron Range, down in the Twin Cities, or travelling with his band Cats Under the Stars. He talks with Will Moore on the Scenic Route about his beginnings, influences, wild parties, strange shows, and the myriad of songs he's written over the years, concluding with his latest "You Can't Be Brave If You're Not Scared".

Adam Stariha talks new Black River Revue live album

Adam Stariha is the lead singer and guitarist for Black River Revue, and energetic bluegrass band from the Twin Ports who just released a new live album entitled "Gitchi Tracks Vol. 1". Stariha talks about making the record and the performance that was recorded at the Sacred Heart Chapel concert space in Duluth, also giving an update on the band amid an uneventful music scene during the pandemic.

Dedric Clark is the lead singer of the Social Animals, a band that formed in Duluth in the early 2010s as a folk rock project, that over time has moved all over the country and changed their sound dramatically. Their latest EP "Best Years" features a high octane energy that Clark says is the kind of music they've always wanted to make. He speaks with Will Moore on the Scenic Route, talking about the group's awkward formation and latest escapades.

Scenic Route - Dave Simonett talks about new solo record "Red Tail"

Dave Simonett is best known as the singer and guitarist of Trampled by Turtles, and also records under the moniker Dead Man Winter. He released his latest record "Red Tail" under his own name in March. He speaks with Will Moore on the Scenic Route about recording it at Pachyderm Studios, the benefits of writing music in Minnesota's winters, and writing songs with his family while staying at home during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Gaelynn Lea is a Duluth-based violinist, public speaker and advocate for those with disabilities. She won the NPR Tiny Desk Concert in 2016 and has presented multiple TED Talks on disability rights. She speaks with Will Moore on the Scenic Route about her unique style of playing, her latest single "Rebuild" as part of an improvisational dance project, as well as her weekly series of meditation-based virtual concerts on Youtube.

Smokin' Joe Scarpellino talks about "Livestream Cover Challenge" on Facebook

Smokin' Joe Scarpellino is a Twin Cities based musician and mastermind behind the Galactic Getdown music festival. In response to the mass shuttering of bars and music venues, he created the "Livestream Cover Challenge", a Facebook group where regional musicians request their friends to play songs and perform them live online within 24 hours. Scarpellino talks with Will Moore about how the page has ballooned to nearly 20,000 followers, and how it benefits musicians and engages fans.

Gambler's Daughter is the moniker of Jessa Roquet, a Twin Cities songwriter with ties to Cook County who grew up singing in a family band and now has released her first full-length record called "Serotinous Skin". She chats with Will Moore about the meaning of the record's title, how her producer and cast of musicians helped shape its sound, and talks about the record release show at the Hook and Ladder theatre.

Eric Anderson is a WTIP jazz host and a longtime low brass player and instructor. He's part of the long-running Lake Wobegon Brass Band, a group of over 30 musicians playing popular and classical music in the arrangement of a traditional British brass band. Eric explains what that means and the kind of music and instruments he plays in this interview on the Scenic Route with Will Moore.
