Lake County songwriters Gene Lafond and Amy Grillo return for a special outdoor live session on the Scenic Route to talk about their new songs and plentiful stories of their travels from desert junkyards to UFO festivals.

John Gruber performs new material on Scenic Route

John Gruber has been a mainstay in the Cook County music scene for many years playing guitar and singing with a wide number of different groups, and most recently with guitarist Russ Viton to form JohnRuss. He joins Will Moore on the Scenic Route to perform some new songs he's been working on. Some from many years ago, and some from the last year as he played music through a long winter and an even longer quarantine time.

Chris and Ari Silver are a father and son Americana duo from River Falls, WI. They join host Will Moore live from their home studio to pick some of their favorite tunes, including some from their new album Sheltered, which was recorded during quarantining from the coronavirus.

Scenic Route: Sister Species is back with Light Exchanges

Sister Species is a chamber-pop septet from the Twin Cities who are celebrating the release of their third full-length record, Light Exchanges. Vocalist/accordionist Emily Kastrul and guitarist Willow Waters join Will Moore on the Scenic Route to talk about making the new record, the group's brassy and intricate sound, trumpet parties, and more.

Jason Wussow discusses new Woodblind album and release show

Jason Wussow is the guitarist of Duluth acoustic ska band Woodblind and the proprieter of Wussow's Concert Cafe in West Duluth. His band has a new album finished entitled "Bluebird Day" and he chats about it with Will Moore on the Scenic Route ahead of their dual album release show at the Cafe with polka duo Dance Attic.

Molly Maher is a songwriter from the Twin Cities with a great new album out, entitled Follow. It's her first album since 2011. Maher chats with Will Moore on the Scenic Route about the long road to its release and inspiration from trips to Mexico.

Bryan Gerrard talks DJing and house music on Scenic Route

Bryan Gerrard is the owner and operator of the Poplar Haus up the Gunflint Trail. But before he came up north to become a lodge owner, he had spent decades in the underground music scene of Minneapolis, spinning vinyl at numerous clubs, including First Avenue, and even had his own label called Celebrity Records. He talks with Will Moore on the Scenic Route about his days DJing, the Chicago house music style which influenced him, and his series of DJ sets streaming live on Twitch.tv.

Kenna Rose performs live solo set on Scenic Route

Cook County musician Kenna Rose joins Will Moore for a live virtual set of music on the Scenic Route. Kenna is part of the local group Vessel and shared her stellar voice and guitar skills on the air from her home in Hovland.

Rhoda Anderson Habedank returns to the Scenic Route for a remote live session, playing guitar and catching us up on what's been happening with her and her family in Norman County, MN. She tells stories about playing socially distant concerts in chicken coops and challenges of being a school counselor in a time of home learning and cancelled graduations.
