Fingerstyle guitar master Pat Donohue stops by The Roadhouse
-Bob Carter & Dick Swanson were delighted to welcome Pat Donohue, one of the most listened-to finger pickers in the world, to Studio A Sept. 12. Pat is the guitarist for the Guy's All-Star Shoe Band of MPR's A Prairie Home Companion, and was in town to play North House's Unplugged concert the next evening. Best-selling author Lorna Landvik on her latest novel, "Best to Laugh," and her own career in comedy
-Ann Possis had the chance to speak with Minnesota author Lorna Landvik recently about her new book, "Best to Laugh." It's loosely based on her real-life experiences living in Hollywood and being a comedian, and in this interview she shares stories from her time there. -Cartoonist Bill Barnes chatted with Ann Possis Aug. 29 about what's so special about cartooning, how the Web has changed the business, how people can get into it, and lots more. -Ann Possis & Roger Linehan hosted The Sweet Papa Dave Band in studio Aug. 8 for high-energy, original music that will get you out of your chair. The band, David Hart on guitar, Keith Manske on bass, Randy Mickelberg on guitar, and John Tetrault on drums, was in town to play at Grand Portage Lodge & Casino the next evening.
Nashville singer-songwriter Jerry Vandiver drops by The Roadhouse
-Grammy Award-winning songwriter Jerry Vandiver stopped by The Roadhouse Aug. 8 with his guitar to chat and play a few tunes, including what he calls paddling music. His new CD, "Every Scratch Tells a Story," features one he wrote about our town, "In Grand Marais." He was in the area for his 20th straight annual Boundary Waters canoe trip.
