Wayne Horvitz brings "21 Pianos" to Studio A

Seattle-based composer Wayne Horvitz is travelling the state of Minnesota with what he calls a "wildly out of tune" piano, sampling Minnesotans playing to be compiled into new, electronic music pieces. The project is called "21 Pianos" and is made possible by the McKnight foundation. On his trip to the North Shore, he visited WTIP, where employee pianists Sherri Lindskog, Martha Marnocha, and Will Moore, tested out his jarring keys to expand their idea of what sonic elements make people enjoy music.
