Update: Woman reported missing near Hungry Jack Lake found safe in town

UPDATE: An employee of Hungry Jack Lodge on the Gunflint Trail who was reportedly missing Monday was found just before 5 p.m. in Grand Marais.

The employee, a woman, left Hungry Jack around 2 a.m. Monday, July 22 and was later presumed missing. The person was later identified by the Cook County Sheriff’s Department as Sally West.

At approximately 2:30 p.m., Cook County Search & Rescue personnel started an effort to locate the missing woman. This included driving and hiking on roads and trails near Hungry Jack Lake, which is located approximately 32 miles up the Gunflint Trail from Grand Marais. Crews were also searching by watercraft on West Bearskin Lake and other surrounding lakes.
