Update: missing man found 'alive and well' in Cook County

Update: At approximately 9 a.m. on Friday the Cook County Sheriff's Office and Search & Rescue located Aaron Banks approximately a quarter mile in from Cliff Creek Pit near County Road 14, off Highway 61 near Grand Marais.

The Cook County Sheriff’s Office was attempting to locate an individual who was reported missing on Thursday. An extensive ground search with K-9 by the Cook County Sheriff’s Office and Cook County Search & Rescue took place. 

Aaron Banks, 34, was reported missing by his wife after he did not return for several hours after going for an early morning walk near County Road 14 West around 4 a.m. on Thursday, May 11. ​Banks’ wife told the Sheriff’s Office that he was suffering from anxiety. 

Banks is a resident of the Twin Cities, but was in the Grand Marais area visiting a family cabin with his wife.
