After nearly two hours of searching for a pair of missing anglers at the end of the Gunflint Trail, a search and rescue team found the duo on Saganaga Lake.

The two men, reported to be in their 30s, went fishing in a personal motorboat at the end of the Gunflint Trail on Lake Sag during the afternoon of July 2. They were due back that night and never returned.

Cook County Search & Rescue personnel were dispatched at approximately 11 a.m. July 3 after the anglers were reported as missing.

The anglers were reportedly found on the northeast arm of Sag. No injuries or issues with their watercraft were reported. It appears there was miscommunication between the anglers and their family members who reported them missing.

Cook County law enforcement was scheduled to inform the family members of the anglers, who were staying on Poplar Lake, that the duo are okay.
