UPDATE: Century Link residential phone service that was experiencing outages has been restored. The trouble was identified as a downed trunk line between Duluth and Hibbing and has been repaired.

Earlier this week, Cook County was among several counties impacted by an emergency 911 outage. That problem has been resolved, however there were sporadic issues with some calls not going through, primarily when calling from one phone exchange to another, such as 387 to 388 or from 475 to 387.

The cause of the earlier 911 outage was apparently a failed switch in Duluth.
