Two vehicle crash sends multiple parties to hospital

A two-vehicle accident on the Gunflint Trail sent several people to the hospital yesterday afternoon, Aug. 23.

The crash occurred at about 2:30 when Robert Dickerson, from Waseca, Minn., was waiting to make a turn off the Gunflint Trail onto Cutoff Road in Grand Marais. Dickerson was driving a 2008 Chevrolet SUV and with him was his wife, Cara and their children, ages 8, 7 and 3.

Andrea Everson of Grand Marais was driving up the hill in a 2012 Nissan Versa SL and struck Dickerson's SUV from behind while he stopped for approaching traffic before making the turn.

Cook County Ambulance, Grand Marais Fire Department and Grand Marais First Responders were paged and transported some patients to North Shore Health. No further information is available on injuries.
All parties were wearing seatbelts.

According to the Cook County Sheriff’s Office, charges are pending in the crash.
