Traveling the Old North Shore -- What's in a Name?

Traveling the Old North Shore is a new WTIP multi-part series focusing on the history of this diverse region. In this feature, producer Martha Marnocha, along with Doug Turner, takes us on a historical, and sometimes surprising tour of Cook County names.

Much of the historical research used for this segment came from the book by Warren Upham, 1850-1934: Minnesota geographic names: their origin and historic significance / (St. Paul, Minn.: Minnesota Historical Society, 1920) as well as from the Cook County Historical Society archives.
