Track team does well in subsection meet

The Cook County High School Track and Field team faced stiff competition at conference and subsection meets. Despite that, a number of Cook County athletes will be advancing after their subsection performances. They are Molly Thomas, Maya McHugh, Louise Ramberg, Sam O'Phelan, Leif Anderson and Will Surbaugh. 

The four girls on the 4x8 relay team are also advancing: Malin Anderson, Chloe Blackburn, Cecelia Chmelik and Marin Hay. 

Molly Thomas finished fourth in the 400. Maya McHugh took fifth in the 800. Louise Ramberg took sixth in the 2-mile race. 

For the boys, Sam O'Phelan and Leif Anderson did well in the 400 also, finishing in fifth and sixth places respectively.

Sam O'Phelan also is heading to the Section Meet in the long jump. 

And Will Surbaugh had a personal record in the 1-mile race and earned sixth place for a spot on the Section team. 

The Section meet will be June 1 at Esko, starting at 10:30 a.m.
