On January 5, Lutsen Mountains announced a change of leadership at the North Shore ski hill. Co-President Tom Rider sold his ownership interest to his brother-in-law and business partner of over 30 years, Charles Skinner.

Some community members found the timing of the announcement – coming in the midst of a proposed expansion of the ski hill onto adjacent US Forest Service land – interesting.

WTIP’s Rhonda Silence spoke with Rider about his career at Lutsen Mountains, family, and to hear his thoughts on the possible expansion.
