-Anna Speck and Gladys Dockan are sisters; Everson sisters. They grew up on a farm on Maple Hill just outside of Grand Marais, where music was a part of everyday life.

-Buck Benson and Karen Blackburn welcomed roots/folk duo Hobo Nephews of Uncle Frank (Ian Alexy and Teague Alexy) for some great guitar and harmonica stylings.
Two Many Banjos plays Studio A once more before going on hiatus
-Bob and Buck hosted Duluth folk/bluegrass band Two Many Banjos in studio June 1. It was one of their last appearances before they go on hiatus later this month.

-Buck and Bob welcomed back The Thunderheads (Steve Blexrud, Craig Paquette and Don Blue) May 25 for rock/blues tunes and lots of laughter.

-Bob spoke May 25 with Dr. Joan Houston Hall, chief editor of the Dictionary of American Regional English, about the completion of the final volume of text (slab-zydeco), the upcoming electronic edition, and how people in different walks of life can use this unique resource. Anishinaabe Way: Al Hunter
-Al Hunter is a citizen of the Anishinaabe Nation within Treaty 3 and a proud member of the Caribou Clan. His poetry has been widely published in journals and anthologies. This edition of Anishinaabe Way features his poem "The Diet," from his third book, "Beautiful Razor: Love Poems & Other Lies," released this year by Kegadonce Press.

Titambe Dance Ensemble brings West African drum rhythms to Studio A
-Buck and Bob hosted four members of the Titambe Dance Ensemble May 18 for chat and music. Director Christian Adeti and his group drummed and danced at the Arrowhead Center for the Arts in Grand Marais the next evening.

-Bob spoke May 18 with James Douglass, theologian, teacher, and author of "Gandhi and the Unspeakable: His Final Experiment with Truth," about Gandhi's remarkable life and what made his non-violent practice so powerful.
