Not your ordinary bike trip...this one's to the South Pole
-Ann Possis visited Nov. 23 with polar adventurer, educator, guide, and former Cook County resident Eric Larsen about his upcoming adventure, Cycle South. Eric, the first person to reach both the North and South Poles and Mt. Everest in a single year, will start in mid-December to pedal from the edge of Antarctica to the South Pole on a fat tire bike. -Back in the woods once more, after another whirlwind trip to Iowa to care for some family illness matters. It’s great to be home to the sereneness of border country.

-Buck was joined Nov. 9 by J. Drake Hamilton, science policy director at Fresh Energy, and Lonnie Dupre, polar explorer. They discussed how climate change might be influencing severe weather events like Hurricane Sandy, changes that have been noted in sea levels and other indicators around the world and in the Arctic, and what can be done to address climate change.
