Susan Kent was elected Senate DFL minority leader for the Minnesota Senate Feb. 1.  Kent replaces longtime Iron Range and Senate leader Tom Bakk to become the first woman ever to lead the caucus.

Though she represents and lives full time in a Twin Cities district, Kent and her husband own a home in Cook County and are very familiar with the North Shore.

WTIP’s Rhonda Silence spoke with the two-term state senator from Woodbury about why she wanted to replace Bakk as the DFL lead in the Senate, and about her connections to Cook County.
