Superintendent talks staffing, finances at ISD 166
The school board of Cook County Schools/School District 166 met on Thursday, August 15. On the agenda was a variety of issues related to the beginning of the 2019-2020 school year.
There were several personnel matters, such as hiring LPN Tim Young to work in the school nurse’s office along with RN Alison Heeren.
The school district has an almost-full roster of teachers but is looking for another preschool teacher with the introduction of morning and afternoon preschool programs.
There are enough school bus drivers on staff to cover all of the district’s bus routes, but the school would like to hire a few more to serve as substitute drivers and to drive students to sporting and academic competitions out of the county.
The board also talked about the School District’s upcoming Open House, on Wednesday, August 28 from 3:30 to 6:30 pm.
The open house coincides with the opening celebration of the Felted Forest Art Installation. The Felted Forest is in the outdoor timber frame classroom and newly developed wooded trail in front of the Arrowhead Center for the Arts/Sawtooth Elementary. There will be refreshments and a trail walk with the artists.
WTIP’s Rhonda Silence spoke with Superintendent Dr. Bill Crandall about these agenda items and more. Here’s their conversation.
Anyone who would like more information is encouraged to call the school at (218)-387-2271.
