The public should be aware that there is an outage for some phones in the county, including a number of county government phones.

According to Sara McManus at TrueNorth in Lutsen, the problem does not appear to be impacting TrueNorth phone customers. Anyone TrueNorth subscribers experiencing problems with phone service should call from a working phone to218-663-7239 or email [email protected].

CenturyLink is aware of the problem. A technician said it does not appear to be a local problem, but is outside the area in a phone system “trunk.”
Century Link says they hope to have service fully restored by 6 p.m. today.

It appears that cell phone service is not affected.

And, according to Cook County Law Enforcement, 9-1-1 service is not affected.
