Some local teens in Cook County receive first dose of COVID-19 vaccine
The case count for COVID-19 in Cook County continues to climb. There are now 140 total cases in the county since the start of the pandemic, including three new cases in the past week.
The most recent positivity rate for COVID-19 testing in Cook County is now over six percent. This is for the week ending March 24, though the report was published April 1 on the local COVID-19 hub site and dashboard. A positivity rate over five percent means that employees and long term care givers at North Shore Health in Grand Marais need to be tested on a weekly basis.
In more news this week from the local hospital, North Shore Health hosted a vaccination event April 1. Approximately 100 doses of the Pfizer vaccine were administered to local residents, including a collection of 16 and 17 year olds who became eligible this week in Minnesota for the vaccine.
WTIP’s Joe Friedrichs spoke with North Shore Health Hospital Administrator Kimber Wraalstad April 2 to learn the details on both of these news items. The audio below is their full conversation.
