A single-vehicle crash in Lutsen sent two men to the hospital just after 11 a.m. today.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, Jeffrey Benton Griffin, 71, of Lakeland, MN was traveling south on Highway 61 in a 2013 Toyota 4-Runner when he drifted to the right ditch and struck a driveway approach. The vehicle vaulted over a driveway, struck a tree and landed on its side.

Griffin and a passenger, Charles Burton Erickson, 71, of Ramsey, MN, were transported to North Shore Health by ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries. A third passenger, George Douglas MacGibbon of Excelsior, MN, 65, did not need medical attention.

All three men were wearing seatbelts and the Toyota’s airbags deployed property.
