Seth Jeffs continues toward development of Pike Lake Road property
A key figure in a group associated with polygamy and child brides continues to work on property along Pike Lake Road in Cook County.
Seth Jeffs was issued a cease and desist order by the county in May. The terms of the cease and desist did not mean Jeffs was unable to work the land, it only meant he had to meet certain requirments before further development could take place. Those requirements mostly dealt with wetlands compliance regarding his plans to develop an approximately 6,000-sq.-ft building on his property.
As reported previously by WTIP, Jeffs is a well-known member of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (FLDS). He purchased 40 acres of land in Cook County in 2018 in a remote location off of Pike Lake Road.
WTIP was sent aerial photographs during the first week of August of the property owned by Jeffs. The photographs show Jeffs continues to work toward correcting the wetlands violations.
Continued work on the property has some neighbors on Pike Lake Road concerned. WTIP News Director Joe Friedrichs spoke with one of those concerned citizens, Sheila Wieben.
