Sawtooth Mountain Clinic (SMC) announced Jan. 13 its intention to build and operate a full-service pharmacy at its base of operations in Grand Marais.  While plans are still in progress, SMC anticipates the pharmacy will be available to patients in January 2021.

The new pharmacy will be located in the current facility and will be open Monday through Saturday. Clinic staff are contracting the services of a leading national pharmaceutical services provider to launch the pharmacy and will hire fully accredited pharmacists to staff the operation, according to Kate Surbaugh, the CEO of SMC.

“The new pharmacy is an important addition to the full array of medical and behavioral healthcare services we provide to Cook County and the Grand Portage Band of Lake Superior Chippewa,” Surbaugh said.

WTIP’s Joe Friedrichs spoke with Surbaugh about the plans for a pharmacy at SMC.
