Results from WTIP news survey
In March 2017, WTIP made a public request for comments on our local news coverage and the news department overall, including news-related programming.
We received a large and thoughtful response that will help us shape our coverage of local and regional events. Nearly 170 individual surveys were completed by WTIP listener members, other residents of Cook County or anyone interested in the survey and WTIP.
The questions focused on the WTIP News Department, and included what parts of Cook County are most important to listeners with regard to news coverage, what parts of the state and region are most important and how people receive their news from WTIP, including streaming online, listening to the radio or hearing stories on the WTIP site. Other questions in the survey included specifics about programming, namely the North Shore News Hour, WTIP’s most recent show added to the news lineup.
We also received more than 75 comments regarding the news department as a portion of the survey. To view the complete list of comments, visit WTIP at 1712 W Highway 61 and they will be available for viewing. Comments included a range of opinions and suggestions, including the idea that in-depth coverage of stories is more important than getting “scoops,” and the fact there tends to be too much repetition when it comes to individual stories broadcast on the air. All of the comments, feedback and survey results will be taken under consideration as WTIP continues to expand its local and regional news coverage.
