There was a collision on east Highway 61 just before 4 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 18 when a vehicle that was stopping for a school bus was rear-ended.

A 2004 Cadillac CTS, driven by Michael Raffale, 29, of Thunder Bay, Ontario, was traveling east on Highway 61 near the Lindskog Road in Grand Marais. A school bus stopped to let children off the bus and several vehicles stopped behind it.

The Cadillac was slowing to a stop in the line behind the school bus when it was struck by a 2001 Honda Civic, driven by a 17-year-old female.

Neither Raffale or his passenger, Jordynn Skinner, 28, also of Thunder Bay, were injured in the crash. Both were wearing seatbelts.

The juvenile female was not wearing a seatbelt and the airbag in her car deployed. She was transported to North Shore Health with a leg injury.
