Last week 80 artists arrived in Cook County to produce over 1000 unique and original paintings in the outdoors. It's an annual plein air competition put on by the Grand Marais Art Colony that puts artists in the middle of the Minnesotan landscapes they capture on the canvas. Will Moore spoke with Art Colony Executive Director Amy Demmer, as well as accomplished artists Dave Gilsvik and Sue Wipf about the wonders and challenges of plein air painting.
