Opinions were mixed at Duluth PolyMet hearing
Clean water. Jobs. Protecting the environment. Maintaining a way of life. The economy.
These were themes repeated countless times at the Duluth Entertainment and Convention Center on Feb. 8 during an event focused on the proposed PolyMet copper-nickel mine in northeastern Minnesota.
There were approximately 800 people in attendance for a public hearing that night, the conclusion of an open house where the public could learn more about, and engage in dialogue with officials from the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources and Minnesota Pollution Control Agency regarding the PolyMet project.
WTIP’s Joe Friedrichs attended the event and shares this report.
