Online event to focus on North Shore water quality challenges

On Monday, Oct. 2, the public is invited to join three of the University of Minnesota Duluth’s top water researchers for a conversation about water quality goals for Minnesota’s North Shore and Lake Superior.

In this Facebook Live event, John A. Downing, director of Minnesota Sea Grant; Lucinda Johnson, associate director of the Natural Resources Research Institute; and Robert Sterner, director of the Large Lakes Observatory, are looking forward to lively exchanges with each other and with online participants.

The virtual conversation will be based on challenges in the Lake Superior region and Governor Mark Dayton’s goal of accelerating the pace of progress toward clean water. The results of the interactive event will be submitted to the governor to help determine regional goals and actionable steps to improve Minnesota’s water quality by 25 percent by 2025.

The event is from noon to 1 p.m. on Oct. 2.
