This month on Northern Gardening the topic is good and bad mulches for gardens and landscapes and getting your garden ready for the winter.  And with the holiday season approaching, there's also a discussion about ideas for great gifts for the special gardening in your life.

Joining Joan Farnam on the program is master gardener Sally Berg, and local growers Melinda Spinler and Nick Wharton.  The featured guest is Dr. Linda Chalker-Scott, a horticulturist and arborist from Washington Stae University, and award-winning author of five books, including "Sustainable Landscapes and Gardens."

We’d love to hear from you too! Do you have questions about fall gardening and the best mulches to use? Or maybe you have suggestions for the perfect gift for a fellow gardener. Email your questions or comments – prior to the program - to [email protected].

Northern Gardening airs the second Thursday of the month at 7 p.m. and is rebroadcast the following Saturday at 6 a.m. All previously aired programs are archived on our website, to listen to any time
