North Shore students in college news

WTIP Community Radio is pleased to share school of local students from elementary school to graduation. In fact, WTIP is proud to  keep track of our local students as they attend colleges throughout the region as well. Here's the latest college news.

Emma Olfson of Grand Marais graduated from Alexandria Technical and Community College on May 10.
Emma studied interior design and was awarded the position of the American Society of Interior Designers student representative.
She is currently completing an internship at Hennen’s Furniture.
Emma is a 2015 graduate of Cook County High School. She is the daughter of Valita Bockovich of Grand Marais and Mark Olfson of Minneapolis.

St. Cloud State University has announced the names of students whose academic achievement placed them on the 2017 spring semester dean's list. To be eligible for the honor, students must have a grade point average of 3.75 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
Magdalynn Rosa McMillan of Grand Marais was named to the list.  Magdalynn is attending the School of Health and Human Services. Her major is Social Work.
She graduated from Cook County High School in 2013.  She is the daughter of Mike McMillan and Shawn Maravigli of Grand Marais.

Zachary Allen Duresky, Silver Bay, was among the 860 students who graduated from Minnesota State Community and Technical College campuses in Detroit Lakes, Fergus Falls, Moorhead and Wadena during commencement ceremonies in May.
Duresky earned certification in Electrical Lineworker Technology.

Central Lakes College, of Brainerd and Staples, Minnesota, has announced its 2017 spring semester honors list. 
Spencer Tiboni of Silver Bay was among those named to the spring 2017 dean’s list at Central Lakes.

The University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) has announced its dean's list for spring semester 2017. Students on the dean's list have achieved a grade point average of 3.5 or higher.
Area students named to the list from Grand Marais include Haylie Anderson, a junior, attending the College of Liberal Arts, earning her bachelor’s degree in Criminology and Kara Pearson, a senior, attending the School of Fine Arts, working toward her bachelor’s degree in Arts.
Sarah Deschampe, of Grand Portage, is a senior at the Labovitz School of Business and Economic Management. She is working on her bachelors degree in business.
Lauren D. Thompson from Lutsen is a junior earning her Early Childhood Studies degree in the Education & Human Service Program.
And named to the list from Silver Bay were three students attending UMD’s Swenson College of Science and Engineering: Dexter Yoki, a senior, earning a degree in electrical engineering; Kyle R. Blood, a senior, earning a degree in chemical engineering; and Mark J. Harris, a senior, earning his degree in mechanical engineering.
